Det har vært mye snakk blant dokumentarister om Netflix de siste årene - denne ansiktsløse strømmegiganten som etter sigende har bunnløs pengesekk og et stort, globalt publikum. Men hvordan er det egentlig å jobbe med Netflix, hvordan kommer man seg i det hele tatt inn døra og er det nødvendigvis det beste for filmen? Produsent Christian Aune Falch møter Susan Turley i en åpen, ærlig og rett på sak-samtale  for å komme til bunns i det mange påstår å vite mye om, men som de færreste faktisk har svaret på.

Susan Turley har med sine 18 år i bransjen som salgsagent og over hundre solgte filmer til Netflix en bedre innsikt enn de fleste. Nå er hun klar for å dele sine erfaringer og hemmeligheter med den norske dokumentarbransjen.

Susan Turley was Managing Director of ro*co films productions from (2009-2019), Susan was responsible for exploring ro*co's interests in all areas of documentary development, production, and distribution, with special attention to adapting documentaries into feature films, scripted tv and doc series. In those 10 years under Susan’s leadership, ro*co productions has secured partnerships with: OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network, The OWN Documentary Club,1492 Pictures, and Happy Street Entertainment. As a consultant and independent producer, Susan has contributed to the growth of ro*co films since its inception in 2000. 

She has a strong background in production as Producer/Executive Producer, on such award winning films as: IDFA’s 2015 Opening Night Film, A Family Affair (Netflix) and 2017 Cannes Classic, Becoming Cary Grant (Showtime). As well as new documentaries releasing in 2019; Well Groomed, When We Believe, iHuman, My Rembrandt,The Girl with Seven Names. 

Susan has also served on granting and selection committees such as; IDA’s Pare Lorentz Award, IDFA Forum, SFFS’s narrative and documentary committees, as well a participating as a Industry “Mentor” for Retreats and Workshops such as; The Camden/TFI Retreat, Dok Incubator (Prague), Doc Nordisk (Sweden), and Doc Norway. 

Susan is currently an Executive Producer with XRM Media; a new media company based in Los Angeles that is a multi platform film production company, creating innovative and emotionally driven content for film, television, and digital media. XRM Media is a full service Media House, which can assist a film, needs from development through completion.
