HVORDAN OPPNÅ SUKSESS I NORD-AMERIKA?

Den danske suksessprodusenten Signe Byrge Sørensen fra Final Cut for Real har funnet en vei i samarbeidet med produsent Joslyn Barnes i Loverture Films. De har blant annet co-produsert Shadow World (Johan Grimoprez), Concerning Violence (Göran Olsson) og Strong Island (Yance Ford), og for tiden har de to nye prosjekter på gang. Møt Byrge og Barnes som forteller om deres unike samarbeid gjennom fire år, og hør hva som skal til for å lykkes, både med kunsten, økonomien og distribusjonen. De deler også erfaringer fra vanskelige situasjoner og fallgruver man bør være oppmerksom på. Det blir vist klipp fra co-produksjonene underveis i samtalen.

Among the films she has been involved with producing since co-founding Louverture Films together with actor Danny Glover and partners Susan Rockefeller and the Bertha Foundation, are: the feature documentaries TROUBLE THE WATER, THE BLACK POWER MIXTAPE 1967-1975, THE HOUSE I LIVE IN, CONCERNING VIOLENCE, SHADOW WORLD, THE HOUSE IN THE FIELDS, STRONG ISLAND by Yance Ford, and the forthcoming HALE COUNTY THIS MORNING, THIS EVENING by RaMell Ross, ANGELS ARE MADE OF LIGHT by James Longley, and AQUARELA by Victor Kossakovsky; the narrative features BAMAKO, THE TIME THAT REMAINS, UNCLE BOONMEE WHO CAN RECALL HIS PAST LIVES, THE NARROW FRAME OF MIDNIGHT, CEMETERY OF SPLENDOUR, WHITE SUN and ZAMA by Lucrecia Martel.

Signe Byrge Sørensen is a two-time Oscar® nominee for producing Joshua Oppenheimer's films The Act of Killing in 2014 and The Look of Silence in 2016. She was nominated for the Producer's Guild Award in 2016 for The Look of Silence. She won Cinema Eye awards for the production of both these films. Signe Byrge Sørensen has been a producer since 1998. She began in SPOR Media in 1998, moved to Final Cut Productions ApS in 2004 and co-founded Final Cut for Real ApS in 2009. She has produced and co-produced documentaries in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Senegal, Morocco, Thailand, Indonesia, Colombia, India and Argentina, besides Scandinavia, Europe and the US. While at SPOR Media she was the Danish co-producer for Steps for the future. She holds an MA in International Development Studies and Communication Studies from Roskilde University, Denmark, 1998 (1st). She did the European co-production courses EURODOC in 2003 and EAVE in 2010. In 2014 Signe Byrge Sørensen has received the following Danish Awards: the Roos Prize, the Timbuktu Prize and the Ib award. Final Cut for Real has also recently started co-producing and developing fiction films. The first co-production The Nile Hilton Incident directed by Tarik Saleh, won the International Sundance Drama Award in 2017. In addition to this our first fiction short A Drowning Man directed by Mahdi Fleifel was selected for the short film competition in Cannes 2017.
